Requirements:

The majority of the company’s IT infrastructure was over four years old. Despite repeated repairs to the systems the network became more and more unstable, users found that they were unable to access printers, the Internet and had frequent problems accessing mail from their mail server.

The system had few controls of users and many users had Trojan viruses. Some systems were running older operating systems such as Windows 98 and many systems had hardware faults. The Internet connection was analogue. The existing server was found to be unstable.

Solution:

The company needed a solution giving them superior reliability for the next four years.

The existing NT4 server was replaced with new SATA based RAID server running Windows 2003 and an AIT backup was installed. The older PCs running Windows 98 and 95 were replaced with new XP Pro based systems. Broadband was installed along with a router. Cynetix installed Smoothwall firewall on an existing PC for improved internet control, excellent intrusion prevention and to allow future VPN access by the company’s directors.

Support:

Once up and running the system was, and still is, very stable. It was agreed that ad-hoc support could continue and no yearly fee was needed.
